ARTEMIDE ILLUMINATES THE MUSEUMS

Artemide continues to strengthen its position as a leader in lighting design by contributing to internationally significant museum projects, demonstrating its ability to translate technological innovation into high-level artistic experiences.

At the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Artemide illuminates the exhibition “L'intime, de la chambre aux réseaux sociaux” open from October 15, 2024, to March 30, 2025. This exhibition explores the evolution of intimacy, from the private rooms of the 18th century to the recent virtual spaces created by social media. Curated by Fulvio Irace and featuring sets designed by Italo Rota and Alessandro Pedretti, the exhibition uses Artemide's lighting to create environments that reflect and enhance the dialogue between decorative art pieces, paintings, and historical objects on display.

The Discovery Space Spot lamps, in a special version designed specifically for the installation, blend seamlessly with the museum’s architecture, creating transparent surfaces and light play that define the exhibition spaces without overwhelming them, allowing the lighting itself to become an integral part of the narrative. Two Vector spots are integrated into the diffusing surface of Discovery Space to ensure optimal visibility of the artworks.

The Discovery light, originally designed by Ernesto Gismondi, guarantees perfect colour and detail perception, with a scenic presence that fits harmoniously within the exhibition volumes. The minimalist lines of the Turn Around System highlight different moments in the journey, creating a unique and immersive perceptual experience. In the side rooms, the essential profile of Turn Around, with its flexibility in various performances, accentuates the strong colour contrasts of the space, illuminating the artworks and objects.

Turn Around System, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, is an open and inclusive lighting system that can virtually disappear due to its slim profile, allowing the quality of light from its elements to shine.

At the Triennale di Milano, Artemide illuminates Forme Mobili, the new exhibition path of the Italian Design Museum that explores the relationships between the body, silhouette, and movement. The project, open until 13 April 2025, offers a journey that reinterprets Triennale's collections through ten sections dedicated to the fundamental themes of Italian design, balancing tradition and innovation.

The exhibition is enriched by three new thematic areas that provide fresh perspectives on complementary worlds. Fashion engages in dialogue with the museum's works, revealing surprising connections between forms, materials, eras, and design concepts. Nautical design showcases the ingenuity and elegance of interiors through models and drawings of boats that blend technology and creativity. Illustration and drawing for magazines and newspapers are explored in a narrative intertwining art and visual communication.

As technical sponsor, Artemide enhances the experience with La Linea designed by BIG, transforming light into a fluid and dynamic sign, amplifying the dialogue between form, function, and movement.

At the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan, Artemide created a unique lighting solution for the exhibition “Piero della Francesca. Il polittico agostiniano riunito,” which concluded in June 2024. This important event reunited the eight panels of one of the Renaissance's masterpieces. The lighting, developed with Discovery Space Spot technology, produces a soft, uniform light that gently envelops the artworks, ensuring optimal visibility of the polyptych's colours and original details.

Using Tunable White technology, Artemide accurately mimics natural light, dynamically adjusting it to enhance and protect the artwork. This provides visitors with a visually impactful and emotionally resonant experience. Accent elements further enhance the perception of the pieces. The Discovery Space Spot integrates the Vector spot, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, within a circular opening in the emitting surface, allowing for adjustable orientation.

The Museo del Novecento in Milan has also relied on Artemide for the setup of the Galleria del Futurismo, one of the museum’s most important spaces, designed by Italo Rota and Alessandro Pedretti. The new lighting system combines diffused illumination with focused accents, creating a pathway that both highlights the exhibited Futurist works and restores the architectural grandeur of the Sala delle Colonne. Artemide has developed a custom reflective beam that interacts with the exhibition space, offering a lighting solution that blends functionality with theatricality, enhancing the movement and dynamism inherent in Futurist art.

Finally, at the Museo Egizio in Turin, Artemide illuminates the new Writing Gallery, inspired by the previous exhibition “Il dono di Thot: leggere l’antico Egitto”, which was a captivating display dedicated to the texts and symbols of Egyptian civilization and concluded in September 2023. With the A24 and Turn Around lights, the exhibition is enhanced by lighting that highlights the historical depth of the artefacts on display, such as papyrus scrolls and alabaster sculptures, providing visitors with an immersive and engaging experience. Artemide's contribution to this exhibition is not only technical but also cultural: through its lighting, the company helps make the beauty and complexity of one of history’s most fascinating civilizations accessible to the public.
