Milan, 20 April Artemide is protagonist of the Milan Design Week with products coming from continuous research and technological innovation. For more than 60 years, Artemide has been designing and producing light through a synthesis of humanistic vision, scientific research, and know-how, guided by the values of environmental and social sustainability.

Artemide has always listened to the world through research and collaborations with those who design the spaces of present and future living.

In particular, Milan Design Week 2026 is an opportunity to celebrate 10 years of collaboration with BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group. Starting from the first project, Alphabet of Light—now among the bestsellers of the collection—numerous product families have emerged, leading Artemide’s research to develop as many as eight invention patents related to these innovative design solutions, imagining new perspectives for lighting human spaces.

This collaboration, like other important partnerships with international architecture firms, is based on shared values and a dialogue that interprets and translates Artemide’s expertise through different points of view and forms of expression.

BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, Foster + Partners Industrial Design, Herzog & de Meuron, Giulia Foscari UNA/UNLESS, Carlo Colombo, OBR – Open Building Research, Neil Poulton, SOM – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill are the authors of the latest collections presented.

These projects explore light at every scale: as a structural element that complements and completes architecture, and as a mobile, adaptable presence within spaces, shaping life and relationships. These are flexible designs that move easily across different applications, conceived to bring high-quality light to every environment, indoors and outdoors.

Both classic materials like blown glass and innovative solutions incorporate Artemide’s patented optical principles. All Artemide lighting is designed in relation to the space it inhabits and to the psychological and physiological well-being of those who experience it, with carefully measured parameters that ensure optimal perception and close attention to energy use, increasingly reduced thanks to optoelectronic solutions capable of delivering extremely high levels of efficiency.

Carring on the heritage of the founder Ernesto Gismondi, Artemide combines creativity and measure, knowledge and know-how, collaborating with leading Italian and international architects and designers to continue being a symbol of innovation and Made in Italy worldwide.

The collaboration between Artemide and the great architects who design its collections also extends to several installations at Milan Design Week.

Light Knot Progression is BIG’s installation for Interni “MATERIAE,” set within the historic Filarete portico of the dell’Università degli Studi di Milano. A continuous luminous line crosses eleven arches and unfolds into a progression of increasingly complex knots, shaping a representation of the creative process: a path of light that weaves together ideas, people, and disciplines.

In the “Città delle Idee” by Mario Cucinella Architects for Solferino28, Artemide’s light creates a space in dialogue with architecture and with the life that will animate the city, interpreting through light the values of sustainability, hospitality, and exchange. It creates a scenographic and engaging experience that looks openly toward the future.

At MADE IN MiC, the Ministero della Cultura’s first participation in the Salone del Mobile, the custom lighting solution “Brera” will also be presented: a lighting system developed by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects in collaboration with Grande Brera and Silvia Perego. It stems from a deep reflection on how to enhance the architectural presence of the façades of Palazzo Citterio and the Pinacoteca di Brera, as well as their outdoor spaces.

“Opendoor” at Palazzo Crivelli hosts iconic products from the Artemide collection, such as Tolomeo and Unterlinden, in their outdoor versions.

Artemide light also animates numerous other events during the week, including Alcova at Villa Pestarini, the Live Camp-ing on the rooftop of Base Milano, and the exhibition The Exquisite Zoo by Faye Moorhouse curated by Cino Zucchi Architects.
